Mission Statement
Our Mission Statement
We believe music is a powerful force for connection and change and we exist to:
• create a warm, empowering and celebratory space where everyone can experience the joy of singing and belonging;
• actively challenge prejudice and discrimination, both within our choir and in the wider world, through participation and performance;
• make singing accessible - physically, emotionally and financially - for all; and
• centre joy and self-expression in our rehearsal and performance spaces.By being part of The Phoenix Choir Edinburgh, we commit to upholding these shared values, helping to build a community where everyone feels safe, supported and celebrated, and where no voice is left behind.
The Phoenix Choir Edinburgh is committed to uplifting every voice, and every individual, through music, solidarity and joy. As a community-rooted choir, we uphold and promote the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, welcoming people from all walks of life, including those marginalised by – or in danger of being marginalised by – age, race, class, religion, disability, gender identity and sexual orientation.
We recognise differing needs and vulnerabilities and work hard to foster a sense of belonging in everything we do, removing every barrier to participation that we can. We understand that being truly inclusive is not passive but built through listening, care, kindness and commitment.
